Moviment Graffitti Celebrates 30 Years of Activism with the ‘FEJN KONTU?!’ Exhibition

Moviment Graffitti is proud to announce the launch of ‘FEJN KONTU?!’, a commemorative exhibition that marks 30 years of activism for social, environmental, and economic justice in Malta. The exhibition, which is part of a series of events celebrating Moviment Graffitti’s 30th anniversary, will open on 7th November 2024 at Società Dante Alighieri, Valletta, and will run until 24th November 2024.

Since its founding by a group of students in 1994, Moviment Graffitti has played a crucial role in some of Malta’s most important social movements, from environmental preservation to women’s, migrants’ LGBT and workers’ rights, equality, and public space access. ‘FEJN KONTU?!’ will provide a deep dive into the movement’s history, with archival media, photography, and creative works that capture its journey. The exhibition will also feature contemporary pieces by artists who have been inspired by Moviment Graffitti’s fight for justice, including mixed media installations and live performances.

The launch event on 7th November at 7pm will include a few short speeches. The public is invited to attend, explore the exhibition, enjoy refreshments, and learn more about Moviment Graffitti. Entrance to the exhibition is free of charge, however donations are appreciated.

Some of the artists featured in the exhibition include:

Julia Alegre Mouslim, Sam Alekksandra, Artivist Dance Theatre Collective, Graffitti Crochet Club, Lana Berty Spiteri, Antonella Bugeja, Charlene Galea, Claria Cutajar, Massimo Denaro, PONKS x Alberto Favaro, Bianca Killinger, Jelka Kretzschmar, Nik Keter, Riyad Khouri, Duška Malešević, Elio Mazzara, Hakki Ulas Tomac, Amy Theuma, and Francesca Zammit.

This exhibition is just one of several events being held throughout the year to commemorate Moviment Graffitti’s 30th anniversary, reflecting on past achievements while also focusing on the ongoing fight for a fairer and more just society.
