On Saturday, we marched to commemorate the Palestinian Nakba – the catastrophe of 1948 when the Zionists killed and expelled tens of thousands of Palestinians from their land in order to create an Israeli state.
In our speech, we stressed that the genocide currently taking place in Gaza is a Nakba for humanity. We condemned political leaders, especially those in the West, for their complicity in this horror.
We also spoke about the Maltese Government and its deafening silence in the face of Israeli terrorism against the Conscience – a humanitarian ship to Gaza that was attacked with drones in the middle of the night on our country’s doorstep.
Israel is not only a threat to the Palestinians. It is a threat to the world. Silence in the face of the Israeli state’s brutality will only lead to more tragedies.
