Fit-tweġiba tiegħu Dr Ellul ma qabel ma l-ebda punt li għamilna imma qal li l-Gvern għandu l-intenzjoni li jibni fuq miżuri bħal dawn biex itejjeb il-kwalità tal-ħajja. Li qegħdin nitolbu huwa li mill-kliem niġu għall-fatti mill-iktar fis possibbli. Il-familji tagħna ħaqqhom aħjar. \nDin l-attività hija organizzata mill-Moviment Graffitti u għandha l-appoġġ tal-Malta Women’s Lobby\, National Parents Society of Persons with Disability (NPSPD)\, Maltese Daddy\, aditus foundation\, Women’s Rights Foundation u MGRM. \n****** \nJoin us outside Parliament at 5pm on Monday\, 3rd October for a press conference where we will be demanding that the Work-Life Balance law be revisited with the aim of improving it. \nWe have written at length about why this law does not go far enough for our families\, including a letter addressed to MP Dr Andy Ellul (see here: https://bit.ly/3BRlQxF). In his reply\, Dr Ellul disagreed with all our points but said the Government intends to build on measures such as these to improve quality of life. We ask that he put words to action sooner rather than later. Our families deserve better. \nThis event is organised by Moviment Graffitti and endorsed by the Malta Women’s Lobby\, the National Parents Society of Persons with Disability (NPSPD)\, Maltese Daddy\, aditus foundation\, Women’s Rights Foundation and MGRM.

DESCRIPTION: Studenti Graffitti will be present at The MCAST Freshers’ Week 2022 between Monday the 10th and Wednesday 12th of October in Paola and on Thursday 13th of October in Mosta.\, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. \n We invite you to visit our stand if you are interested in joining an organisation which is active in the community in areas such as the environment\, feminism\, worker’s rights\, immigration\, LGBTIQ+ rights and more. \n Members from Moviment Graffitti will be present to explain what the role of the organisation is in the current context and give you more information on current campaigns such as the Comino campaign\, the pro-choice campaign and several others. \n Feel free to voice your ideas on the issues or problems you find at MCAST so that Studenti Graffitti can also be a platform for student campaigns. We will also explain our vision for students within MCAST and our ideas on student internships\, student accommodation and sexual and reproductive rights. \n We will also have a fun game lined up\, as well as some merchandise and stickers up for grabs. SUMMARY:Press Conference - Stop the Abuse\, Close Mediterraneo Marine Park
DESCRIPTION: Join us outside of the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Regulation Division at 10:30am on Saturday\, the 22nd of October\, in a press conference where we will be demanding the closure and the revoking of the license of the Mediterraneo Marine Park\, in order to end the capturing\, training and mistreatment of dolphins\, which ultimately led to the demise of 3 of them last year. \nLet’s put a stop to this before there can be more deaths of these incredible intellectual creatures. \n The Veterinary and Phytosanitary Regulation Division (VRD) concluded that the deaths were ‘a pure accident.’ \n However\, the Office of the Commissioner for Animal Welfare’s investigation concluded that the VRD’s own investigation was only carried out after the Commissioner’s inquiries\, nine months after the dolphins’ deaths\, and before February 2022\, “no event-specific measures were taken by the VRD\, and the Mediterraneo Marine Park was allowed to go about its business as usual.” \n The Office of the Commissioner for Animal Welfare concluded that “a degree of negligence was involved on more than one occasion\,” as attested to by the park’s own statement. SUMMARY:Protesta - Park tal-Moħqrija\, Battlu t-Tankijiet!
DESCRIPTION: We invite you to join us in protest against the Mediterraneo Marine Park on Saturday 19 November 2022 at 10:30am to demand the revocation of the Park’s licence and its permanent closure in order to end our country’s role in the capture\, training\, and mistreatment of dolphins and other marine mammals. \n We will hold a short march outside the Park’s perimeter and end close towards the entrance. The starting point will be near the ice-cream kiosk\, here: https://goo.gl/maps/oEsw6tTFk33uEr8x8 \nWhy are we protesting \n Last year\, under mysterious circumstances\, three of the Park’s dolphins died. Their death was kept secret\, but after the Office of the Commissioner for Animal Welfare launched an investigation\, this summer it was revealed that the three dolphins died of lead poisoning while under the Park’s care. Since the authorities have not acted on our demands\, we will be reiterating them again together with the public. \n Dolphins should not be held in captivity for entertainment\, nor should they be bred\, bought or exchanged like some commodity. \nThe death of these three dolphins is solely a result of the Park’s negligence. While Mediterraneo has claimed that this was a one-off accident\, there have been eight other deceased dolphins\, one of which (Pinu) died very young\, and the cause of his death is as yet not public. \n Mediterraneo Marine Park Malta is nothing more than a poorly disguised circus\, whose interests are solely financial. Animal circuses have been banned in Malta since 2014\, and the constant shows and performances put on at the Park are like those that would be seen in a circus not a zoo. The Park has no role in conservation or rehabilitation\, much less education. Wasal iż-żmien li jittieħdu l-passi meħtieġa biex il-vjolenza domestika tiġi indirizzata bis-serjetà u bla dewmien. \n Ingħaqdu magħna quddiem il-Kwartieri tal-Pulizija fil-Furjana biex nitolbu li l-vjolenza kontra n-nisa tinqered darba għal dejjem. \n****** \n This Friday\, 25th November\, is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. \n It takes place just days after another woman was brutally murdered\, allegedly by her former partner\, outside her workplace. \n This Friday\, we are meeting outside the Police Headquarters in Floriana\, walk towards Triton Fountain\, then through Republic Street and finish in front of the Law Courts. \n We’re meeting outside the Police Headquarters in Floriana\, since Bernice Cassar was just here\, two weeks ago\, filing another police report after her former husband threatened her for the umpteenth time. She also filed a report about her aggressor’s threats last Monday. \n The next day\, Bernice was shot outside her workplace and her former husband is the only suspect in the case. \n Bernice Cassar was shot after filing multiple reports for police protection. A court case regarding her estranged husband holding a knife to her throat was scheduled to start a year from now\, because of large court workloads and court delays. \nThis Friday\, we are meeting to ask the authorities to take responsibility for this gross failure. \n Every delay in court procedure kills women. It’s time to ensure that domestic violence is acted upon properly and swiftly. \n Join us outside the Police HQ in Floriana to ask for violence against women to be eliminated once and for all.

SUMMARY:Fit-Triq Bla Biza' - Reclaim the Night
DESCRIPTION: Every year\, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women\, we come together to raise awareness on the violence which women experience in its many physical\, sexual and psychological forms. \n This violence encompasses street harassment\, cyber harassment\, psychological abuse\, unwanted sexual advances\, rape\, femicide\, human trafficking\, child marriage and female genital mutilation. Stopping this violence starts by (but doesn’t stop at) listening to and believing women. \n This year we are marching to Reclaim the Night (Fit-Triq bla Biża’). This is the first such march being held in Malta. We will be marching to show resistance and demand our right to move safely in public spaces\, no matter the time\, the place and what we are wearing. \n We will gather on Friday 2nd December at the LOVE Monument in St. Julian’s at 18.30\, and then march together along the front. As part of the event\, we will share stories about the personal experiences of women and the daily violence which we face. \n We are inviting you all to submit your stories here (https://bit.ly/3THdgcE). Submissions can be anonymous and you may also read out your own story on the day. After a short walk through Miżieb\, we encourage the public to stay and picnic. \nThe authorities tried to steal 1.5 million m2 of public land for the benefit of a select few. \n They failed. \nThis is because NGOs fought tooth and nail so that the woodlands of Miżieb and L-Aħrax remain accessible to all. \nWe are determined to make sure everyone can continue to enjoy these public spaces that are so important to society.

DESCRIPTION:On Monday 19th December\, at some point in the afternoon\, a vote will be held in Parliament on the second reading of Bill 28 – a new law that will allow termination of dangerous pregnancies that put women’s lives or health at grave risk. It is essential that this vote passes so that Bill 28 continues on its way to become law. \nAt 3pm we will be giving a press conference in front of Parliament together with other NGOs of the Voice for Choice coalition. We will also remain in front of Parliament until the vote is taken\, to encourage MPs to vote in favour of this essential law that protects the lives and health of women. \nAlthough this is not a rally because the time of the vote is inconvenient to many people\, those who can make it to Valletta at that time can join us as we mark this important milestone in Malta’s women’s rights history.

Like Jean Paul Sofia\, Miriam Pace was killed three years ago by the construction industry\, and every week we hear of serious accidents and deaths of workers on construction sites across Malta and Gozo. \n The suffering and the deaths that are caused by the construction industry are not simply incidents but the result of an industry which lacks any serious regulation. Despite the many promises of reform\, the changes that were made were only cosmetic\, as greed continues to dominate the sector of planning and construction. \n Therefore we are going to meet in front of the Ministry for Public Works and Planning\, in Floriana\, (location: https://goo.gl/maps/wqGsmJeeVF2xbZpC9) in order to reiterate our call for serious regulation of the sector. There cannot be justice for Jean Paul Sofia and all the other victims of construction as long as the profits of developers continue to be given predominance over the health and lives of workers and residents.

Ejjew nixorbu tazza nbid flimkien u naraw dan il-ġawhra ta’ film li ma jistax ħlief jispirana. \n****** \n As part of the run-up to International Women’s Day 2023\, Moviment Graffitti will be screening the film Suffragette on Friday 3rd March at 6.30 p.m. at its premises at 67\, Strait Street\, Valletta. \n Set in early 20th century England\, Suffragette is a 2015 film inspired by true events where a group of women\, instigated by the activism of Emmeline Pankhurst\, organised themselves politically to fight for social justice\, equality and especially the right to vote. The story of the British Suffragettes was a fight against injustice as much as it was against the forces of justice themselves. They resisted as much as their fight was resisted by the patriarchal structures of the time. \n Before the film\, Professor Carmen Sammut\, academic\, will give a brief historical and sociological background about women’s struggle for universal suffrage in Malta in 1947 from a feminist perspective. \n Entrance is free of charge. DESCRIPTION: Wednesday\, 8th March is International Women’s Day 2023. Women’s day has a long history of women protesting against injustices and fighting for change as well as remembering their struggles and achievements. This year we will once again be marching in protest against the injustices of our incompetent and insensitive systems and the inequality which women continue to experience in our patriarchal society. \n This year the theme we have chosen is Women United against Injustice (Nisa Magħqudin għax mill-Ġustizzja Mċaħħdin). This theme has been chosen because of the many injustices that women in our society face every day especially when they seek justice through our institutions. Over the past months alone\, we have seen senseless sentences and court decisions\, long years of waiting for action to be taken or for justice to be served\, police inaction which could have prevented serious crimes such as domestic violence and femicide\, lack of information\, lack of coordination\, as well as instances of baseless victim blaming. Women experience injustice not only because of inequality and discrimination but also because our justice system is a farce. \n Join us on Wednesday\, 8th March at 5.30 pm near the Triton Fountain in Floriana where we will start our protest march to voice our anger at these institutions which are supposed to protect us and to demand that our voices be heard and justice served. The march will end in front of the law courts where we will shout our demands. \n Come and bring other women. DESCRIPTION: After a year of record road fatalities in 2022 and perpetual road congestion\, we will be addressing the press in front of Parliament in Valletta to push the Maltese authorities for safe and efficient roads and transport systems that stop treating pedestrians\, cyclists\, and users of public transport as a mere afterthought to cars. Over the years\, the combination of poorly designed infrastructure for active commuting\, the perpetuated problem of an overdependence of cars\, and inefficient public transportation have made our streets a death trap\, with road fatalities currently being 10 times higher than the rest of the EU. \nJoin us on Saturday 18th March at 9am\, where we will be making the following demands to the authorities  \n Nationalise and invest further into all public transport \n Publish standards for pedestrian and cycling infrastructure\, and a legally-binding national cycling policy \n Update our Highway Code to introduce the hierarchy of road users\, giving those in charge of vehicles that can cause the greatest harm the greatest responsibility to reduce the danger to the more vulnerable road users \n Introduce Presumed Liability laws to protect the more vulnerable road users \n Enhance the quality of our village cores by prioritising active mobility allowing people to safely walk or cycle within their villages. \n\nMoviment Graffitti | Rota | Friends of the Earth Malta

DESCRIPTION:MGRM\, YMCA Malta\, Moviment Graffitti and friends will be thrifting to fundraise for our LGBTQI+ siblings in Turkey and Syria. \nOur community members will host stalls with clothes\, books\, art and more for you to thrift away at. Food will also be available. Everyone is welcome.\nLater on\, we will push the tables and dance our pent up frustrations away! \nThe earthquakes that shook Turkey and Syria have left the diaspora across the world in shock. What might just be another news item for some of us in Malta is an indescribable trauma\, the magnitude of which we can’t possibly understand. While there has been amazing international support we know that international aid does not reach everyone equally\, because society doesn’t deem everyone equal. The politicians that oppress the LGBTQI+ community in Turkey and Syria are the same that have responded inadequately to the worst natural disaster to ever hit the region. Taxes raised for earthquake disaster relief are being misspent and the lack of disaster relief preparedness has cost too many lives. \nThis is why we are carefully researching the organisations to send money to. In the following days we will be introducing these organisations to you (if we can) and we guarantee that every cent raised will benefit the LGBTQI+ community in the region. \nMassive thanks to Maori bar for offering to host us.
